A new start
Sometimes you just want to start over. I have had my blog over at blogspot for quite some time, but can’t say I have really updated it much lately. I also feel that my original goal with that blog, to blog about things in the XMMS2 community limited me to much.. Why? Beacause I don’t feel that I am that involved with XMMS2 anymore and everytime I wanted to write something about my Cocoa development or something work related I just couldn’t write without thinking about now it would map to XMMS2.
So I am moving on with a new blog over at wordpress instead. The name “thieta” also marks a new begining, while I am still named Tobias Rundström, that will change really soon when I marry Lisa Hieta. I wanted this new blog to reflect that as well.
I am also moving on from XMMS2. This is the fifth year I am working on Google Summer of Code for XMMS2, GSoC is also my big responsibility every year, to meet all the deadline and try to motivate students and mentors to do what is required.the last two years it has become increasingly difficult for me to find that time and do a proper job with regards to this. So I feel it’s time to pass this responsibility on.
I will fullfill the responsibilities as admin (but will not mentor anything) this year, but I will not do it next year, I feel that to many people is counting on me to handle this, so I want to give fair a warning.
The ironic thing is that, lately I have really gotten back into development, but everytime I go to the XMMS2 code, I just get really frustrated. So I don’t thinking that the community should count on me countributing any more code or any more admin work in the future.
I want to stress that this has nothing to do with the wonderful people within the community, I really enjoy your company and ideas, but I don’t feel motivated by the project anymore. All the best to you in the future.
This new blog will be about more personal stuff and some coding as well, but rather than XMMS2 related code it will cover my excursions into Objective-C and Cocoa.
